HTBA hosts the presentation of the Industrial Plan of Murcia in commitment to the region’s economic and technological development

Sep 25, 2025

This Thursday, HTBA hosted the presentation of the Murcia Industrial Plan 2025–2035 at our research, development and production center in Beniel (Murcia). The event, organized by the Regional Department of Environment, Universities, Research and Mar Menor with the Murcian Association of Chemical Industries (AMIQ), brought together regional authorities as well as leaders from the industrial and business community.

The new Industrial Plan was presented by Juan María Vázquez, Regional Minister for Environment, Universities, Research and Mar Menor, who invited companies and AMIQ to contribute with their input and suggestions. “This is a dynamic, flexible document that we want to build with the broadest possible consensus”, he stated. Vázquez also highlighted that, after experiencing nearly 30% growth during the first decade of the 2000s, the chemical sector is now “one of the main drivers of the regional industrial network.”

Today, the Region is home to more than 500 chemical companies, generating over €7 billion in annual turnover and employing more than 7,500 people. According to the Department, the chemical industry is the second-largest sector in the region—after energy—due to its strong international presence and cutting-edge investment in R&D.

For his part, AMIQ President Francisco Sánchez emphasized that the chemical sector is “the industry of industries,” acting as “the backbone of the most advanced technologies and trends,” such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, advanced materials, sustainable fuels, green energy vectors, carbon capture and the circular economy. “We can say that our sector is also the key driver behind the economy of the future,” he stated.

HTBA’s Chief Operations Officer, Ignacio Paco, expressed the company’s “great honor” in hosting the presentation of the Industrial Plan 2025. “Murcia is a strategic hub for HTBA’s industrial production. From our research, development and production center in Beniel, we manufacture and export all our products to more than 60 countries. Our commitment is to continue contributing to the development of a competitive, innovative and sustainable industrial sector in the Region of Murcia through strategic projects for our company and the creation of highly skilled jobs.”

Public-private collaboration and Murcia’s innovative ecosystem

The event highlighted Murcia’s role as a region committed to innovation and highly qualified employment, with the goal of boosting industrial competitiveness, creating quality jobs and strengthening the regional R&D ecosystem. It also reaffirmed the importance of Murcia’s innovation landscape and the role of public-private collaboration in driving the sector forward.

Also attending the presentation, alongside the Minister, were Federico Miralles, Director General for Industry, Energy and Mines; AMIQ’s Director, Francisco José Caparrós; members of the HTBA team; and representatives from other chemical companies across the Region.
