Our commitment to sustainability is ingrained in everything we do, from including ethics and transparency at the core of our actions, to respecting the environment, improving people’s health through our products, or creating a safe workspace or fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within our own facilities.

Cultivating a better tomorrow

Sustainability isn’t just a goal for HTBA – we see it as the only way to successfully grow our business. We understand that the health of our natural resources is fundamental to our future, and as an industrial sector leader, we’re committed to driving change towards a more sustainable system.

Taking action: Carbon neutrality by 2050

How can we respect the environment that serves us? This question guides every aspect of our operations at HTBA.

We have implemented an Integrated Management System based on the ISO 14001 standard that helps us manage and identify environmental risks and impacts, as well as establish and set strategic environmental goals. HTBA also proudly aligns with the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal to be a part of the revolution in achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050. The installation of photovoltaic panels or the purchase of 100% renewable electricity for our manufacturing plant and our headquarters, are actions that we have implemented and moves us towards that goal.

Promoting a Circular Economy

Through innovative research and development initiatives, our R&D and technology team constantly strives to minimize waste generation and maximize resource recovery.

Each year, HTBA sets a waste reduction goal to continue improving our process as well as find ways for other industries to reuse waste.

Aware of the importance of making responsible use of water, HTBA is also constantly working to implement measures to reduce water consumption rate per ton produced, being more efficient in the process.

HTBA has carried out the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its two main products, to understand the impact associated with a product along its life cycle, from greenhouse gas emissions to water consumption or other environmental impacts, and identify improvement areas.

Caring: Inclusivity Is in Our Nature

Our ESG vision shines brightly: we aim to create a safe space where we can be ourselves, paving the way for a brighter future for everyone.

This commitment extends to nurturing the unique talents, skills and safety of each team member who dedicates their time to us at HTBA. Because our people are our most valuable asset, we want our associates to be themselves.

In embracing diverse perspectives, everyone at HTBA shines, fueling innovation and engagement, which in turn retains talent and adds to our business. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) is a fundamental part of our culture’s aspiration to help everyone bring the best of themselves every day. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

All Eyes on Innovation & Quality

Environmentally friendly technologies and industrial processes start with sustainable innovation. That’s why HTBA’s R&D team constantly explores new ways to reduce our environmental impact, from green chemistry initiatives to alcohol reduction projects. We’re always aiming to improve and offer safer, healthier and more effective products.
We have patented technologies for the solvent-free manufacturing of some flavonoids, being the only company in the world that manufactures under these standards.
Innovation and equality

Additionally, HTBA is firmly committed to quality throughout the entire value chain.

What does this mean for our business? We’ve established a Quality, Environment and Food Safety Policy which provides the general guidelines and objectives on all things quality, ensuring our promises are upheld at every point in our process. 13. Climate action

Climate change is one of the main risks facing humanity, on which it is necessary to act quickly and decisively to avoid a climate catastrophe. At HTBA we have the duty and obligation to reduce the emissions generated by the organization and minimize our impact. That is why we are committed to be carbon neutral by 2050 and are acting towards this goal, as an essential part of our ESG strategy. Our resilience and ability to adapt to climate-related risks and natural disasters is also key, as well as raising awareness and educating our team.

    12. Responsible consumption and production

Our reliance on natural resources is increasing and unsustainable patterns of consumption and production are root cause of triple planetary crises: climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. In a system of continuous improvement, we work on projects to promote renewable energy, analyze the impact of our raw materials, digitalization to reduce environmental impact, or actions to reduce the generation of waste through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

    6. Clean water and sanitation

Water is becoming a scarce resource in many regions and is projected to increase in the coming years. We are fully aware of this situation and work tirelessly to ensure a sustainable management of water, both in terms of optimizing consumption and reusing it whenever possible, and in ensuring that it is discharged in good condition, with high levels of quality and without the presence of chemical products or other contaminants.

    10. Reduce inequalities

Equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. It implies that all people have the same rights, resources and opportunities regardless of their sex, gender identity, age, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic situation, and are treated with the same respect in all aspects of daily life. At HTBA we want everyone to be able to be themselves every day because it fuels innovation, drives engagement, attracts and retains talent and adds to our business. We take responsibility for promoting the reduction of inequalities and ensuring that no one is left behind, promoting equal opportunities in the organization, removing any type of discrimination, and appreciating the differences that make us stronger.

    9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure

At HTBA we are market leaders in our production process, promoting solvent free techniques and highly secure operations. Our innovation area is constantly working to improve our products and to seek more sustainable solutions, using resources more efficiently and promoting the adoption of clean and environmentally friendly technologies and industrial processes. We carry out clinical studies of our ingredients, in collaboration with universities and research centers. This helps us generate scientific knowledge in the development of products and processes, with the aim of continue improving and offering safer, healthier and more effective products.

    8. Decent work and economic growth

HTBA embraces the responsibility to promote inclusive and sustainable growth, and offer decent work for all. The company ensures that there are no violations of labor rights and occupational risk situations in the organization through correct work policies and an occupational risk prevention system that ensures the health of workers. As part of a value chain, we demand our partners that they likewise respect human rights and avoid corrupt practices, with the aim to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect.

    3. Good health and well-being

Our products are aimed at improving consumer health and well-being. The nature of our business demands a responsible approach, taking extra care to reduce risks and guarantee safety and security. With this as a top priority, our rigorous and high-quality standards ensure that we offer safe products, contributing to access to safe and quality medicines.
