HealthTech Bio Actives (HTBA) has announced a 25 million euros investment to modernize and enhance the sustainability of its industrial center in Beniel, Murcia. This initiative consolidates its position as a global leader in the production of flavonoids and active forms of vitamin B12, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.
At the inauguration event, chaired by the President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, HTBA unveiled its upgraded facilities, including a state-of-the-art production plant capable of manufacturing all active forms of vitamin B12 in their natural state. HTBA is the only company in Europe with this capability. Additionally, the modernization has created 58 new permanent jobs, 31 of them in the Region of Murcia, significantly contributing to the development of the local economic and social fabric.
A step forward for sustainability and the circular economy
The modernization of HTBA’s facilities represents not only a technological advancement but also a firm commitment to sustainability. Key measures implemented include the use of renewable energy, resource optimization, and the integration of technologies that ensure 98% of the generated waste is recycled or repurposed.
In the words of President López Miras: “This HTBA center in Beniel represents strong support for green chemistry, the circular economy, and the use of new technologies. The growth of a company like HTBA, with such remarkable international projection, is excellent news for our region.”
A strong bond with the Region of Murcia
At the event, the Spanish Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Mariola Guevara, emphasized: “The relationship between Beniel and HTBA has been built, for decades, on social, economic, and emotional bonds of mutual and absolutely unbreakable return, which largely explain and justify this exemplary success story.”
Furthermore, the Mayor of Beniel, Mª Carmen Morales, highlighted the importance of HTBA to the municipality, emphasizing the close public-private collaboration that has facilitated key community projects.
Alexandre Valls Coma, CEO of HTBA, stated: “Our origins in the Region of Murcia, more than 45 years ago, have been fundamental to our growth. This project reinforces our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and local talent, which are key pillars for advancing our mission to unleash the power of nature and improve people’s well-being.”
With this ambitious investment, HTBA continues to position itself at the forefront of the industry, leading the transition towards a more sustainable future and generating a positive impact on both global health and the economy.
Innovation in service of health and well-being
One of the most notable projects is the modernization of a diosmin production plant, a flavonoid with health benefits for humans and animals, using a patented process that replaces artificial solvents with water. This breakthrough makes HTBA the only company in the world capable of manufacturing diosmin without the use of chemical solvents, further strengthening its leadership in the sector.
The facilities also feature new automation technologies that enhance production efficiency, ensuring the highest quality products for customers in over 60 countries worldwide.
